Inspired by New York City loft apartments, the homeowners wanted to keep the charm of the old house while creating a modern, high-end space to reflect their unique style.

The character of their original home was preserved by maintaining ornate ceilings while bringing the home up to modern standards. Inspired by their travels, the new extension was designed around the vision of a New York City loft. The owners wanted to create something distinctly different they could call their own.
Overcoming Design Challenges in a Flood-risk zone
Located in a high flood-risk zone, the site required careful planning and design. To mitigate flood issues, the rear extension was elevated by four steps. A split-level design was created to local council flood requirements while also adding architectural interest and flair.
